We

Arcade Fire’s album We is like a magical healing balm for the last two years.

Win Butler is known for saying that there are artists who do things for the applause and artists who do it because they have to, because it’s in their soul. I feel that… it’s palpable.

I contemplate social media ‘group think’ impacts often. In the land of followers, likes, filters and applause, it’s hard not to fall into the validation trap and see the social impacts spoken about in ~age of anxiety I and II.

Lyrics like “Another lost alien arriving on my spaceship, in the age of anxiety”

it’s hard to embrace your weird, and multidimensional self. It takes an incredible amount of work and bravery in a culture so eager to hold and keep us in such a narrowly defined and limited space. Those little boxes are traps.

And “ I was trying to run away, but a voice told me to stay… put the feeling in a song”

I use social media less and less, the urge to write it off completely still calls me. But I know a complete exit is not the answer, there is value here too. The depth of gratitude for the truly authentic “influencers” that inspire us to open our hearts and to feel things. Everything is energy and vibration. Heart on sleeve, sincerity is a felt experience. Who inspires you?

Go ask Alice

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don’t do anything at all

Go ask Alice
When she’s ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you’re going to fall

Tell them a hookah-smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice when she was just small
When the men on the chess board
Get up and tell you where to go

And you just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving slow
Go ask Alice
I think she’ll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s lost her head
Remember what the dormouse said

Feed your head
Feed your head

Gold fire

Would I tell you
If I couldn’t see no way?
Dare I bore you?
I’d come for you
And rally you, I’d say
Let’s go forward

Fuel my fire
The numb will fall away
We find our way through

I’ma do my thing
I’ma run a ring ’round their nothing
Walkin’ that line, it feel like an earthquake
Got me hemmed in but I’m hard to break

Gold fire
Can’t taunt me with your water (ah)
Gold fire
Incitin’ the disorder
Burning through your borders

Oh you make me see
Ain’t nothing what it seems to be
I’m not frettin’ anything you say
It doesn’t mean a thing to me

I’ll keep telling you until you get it
Always sincere, are you not ready yet?
Locked down in the cell of your head
Got me outta bounds I care too much
I’m a do my

I’m a do my thing
I’m ‘ run a ring ’round your nothing
Walkin’ that line, it feel like an earthquake
Got me hemmed in but I’m hard to break

Gold fire
Can’t taunt me with your water
Gold fire
Incitin’ the disorder
Burning through your borders

Oh you make me see
Ain’t nothing what it seems to be
I’m not frettin’ anything you say
It doesn’t mean a thing to me

And my flames stay ’til you’re clear out my way
(There’s a lie in the water)
And my flames stay ’til you’re clear out my way
(There’s a hand in the handouts)
And my flames stay ’til you’re clear out my way
(There’s a lie in the water)
And my flames stay ’til you’re clear out my way
(There’s a hand in the handouts)
And my flames stay ’til you’re clear out my way

comes alive when it’s dying

Wanderer never go
Held you down, heavy snow
I saw light fall
Shimmerin’ through my skin
I turned so blind
Just by tryin’ to fit in
Felt it in my bones, hidden melodies
Why am I holdin’ back? Help me please
Turnin’ into every rain
Drippin’ from the stars
Travelin’ bodies the same
Feelin’ every part
In my soul, harmonies
Into trails, into leaves
Reachin’ from the core
Whisper where to go
Frozen down
Turn us into heavy snow
Twisted fantasy, twisted real world
Where to lean, help a girl
Turnin’ into every…
