We

Arcade Fire’s album We is like a magical healing balm for the last two years.

Win Butler is known for saying that there are artists who do things for the applause and artists who do it because they have to, because it’s in their soul. I feel that… it’s palpable.

I contemplate social media ‘group think’ impacts often. In the land of followers, likes, filters and applause, it’s hard not to fall into the validation trap and see the social impacts spoken about in ~age of anxiety I and II.

Lyrics like “Another lost alien arriving on my spaceship, in the age of anxiety”

it’s hard to embrace your weird, and multidimensional self. It takes an incredible amount of work and bravery in a culture so eager to hold and keep us in such a narrowly defined and limited space. Those little boxes are traps.

And “ I was trying to run away, but a voice told me to stay… put the feeling in a song”

I use social media less and less, the urge to write it off completely still calls me. But I know a complete exit is not the answer, there is value here too. The depth of gratitude for the truly authentic “influencers” that inspire us to open our hearts and to feel things. Everything is energy and vibration. Heart on sleeve, sincerity is a felt experience. Who inspires you?
